It’s time for Basketball: Spurs at Chicago Bulls

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The Spurs followed their first losing streak of the season with two wins in two nights at home against the Rockets and Pelicans. It looks like opponents of the Silver and Black have found a way to somewhat neutralize Wembanyama on offense by physical play and double and triple teaming him whenever he gets the ball. In the last couple of games, the passing has been a little crisper, especially in the Pelicans game, where the return of De’Aaron Fox brought more efficiency to the Spurs offense. Having a point guard who can create his own shot reduces the pressure on Victor and frees up Stephon Castle to use his size and strength to get to the hoop, or pass to the open man when needed.
The Bulls are a little banged up tonight, but they’re still dangerous, and with former Spur Tre Jones running the point while Coby White is recovering from injury, they’ve been very efficient on offense. It’s still very early, but the Bulls are tied with the Knicks for third in the east, and should be a playoff contender this year after several years of being play-in bait. They are on track for at least making it into the second round this year and could make some noise if some of the other top teams in the east stumble a bit. They are going to be a tough out tonight, and the Spurs haven’t played as well on the road as they have at home this year, so tonight will be a good measuring stick for how much the team has improved so far. A win will give the Spurs their best start since the 2015-2016 season where they started 9-2 on their way to a 67-15 regular season, and lost in the second round to the Thunder.
Tre Jones will have a terrific game against his former team in a loss.
