“OFFENSIVE MINDED SPO IS INSANE”: NBA Fans Shook After Heat’s $109M Forward Slams Home Game Winner Behind Excellent Play Design

The Miami Heat drew up an astonishing game-winning play in the final second of their overtime victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the play, Andrew Wiggins, who is earning $109 million in his contract, according to Spotrac, drilled an alley-oop from an inbounds pass to steal the win.
The pass came from Nikola Jovic after Heat guard Davion Mitchell hit Wiggins’ defender DeAndre Hunter with a back screen, allowing the athletic forward to break loose for a wide-open dunk.

With the superb ending in the OT game, NBA fans erupted on X, reacting to the Heat’s late-game execution that resulted in the grind-out win.

Meanwhile, others roasted the Cavaliers’ defense with 0.4 seconds left in the game as they failed to defend the paint and opted to stay close to the Heat players despite being near the half-court line.
@TheHoopCentral This is terrible defense why is nobody in the paint 😭
@TheHoopCentral The Cavs are fucking idiots, theres .4 on the clock and you don’t put anyone at the rim,it’s literally 5 on 4 for them 😂
@TheHoopCentral wtf was that defense lol
Before the Wiggins’ game-winning play, Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell drained a tough fadeaway three-pointer from the left corner to force a 135-all tie. However, his shot went to naught as the Heat pounced on Cleveland’s late-game defense to snag the victory.
The Heat improved their record to 7-4, tied with the Cavaliers, and maintained a perfect home record at 5-0. They are riding a three-game winning streak and have won four of their last five games.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra reacts to Miami’s final play against the Cavaliers
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra talked to the media about the final play after the win. According to Spoelstra, the play, which saw an elevator screen for Norman Powell, served as a decoy before Mitchell’s back screen for Wiggins, has been in his repertoire for four years.
“I’ve had that play on my card listed for 4 years. (Chris Quinn) said we should run that,” Spoelstra said. “Norm (Powell) sold it really well. Wiggs made a great cut on it. Niko put it right on the lip of the rim.”
Wiggins ended the game with 23 points and five assists in 37 minutes of play to help the Heat.
The Heat will again face the Cavaliers on Wednesday, Nov. 12, again in Miami’s home court.
