Witnesses have recounted the harrowing moment a 31-year-old Disney superfan leapt to her death at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel in Florida.
According to the New York Post, Summer Equitz died on Oct. 14 at the Contemporary Resort after jumping from a 12th-floor balcony, according to reports. She had flown to Florida alone, without her family.
A married couple staying at the hotel described the horrifying scene, saying Equitz landed just 30 feet from where they were standing on the fourth-floor observation deck.
“One of the witnesses moved closer to see if she was breathing, which she did not appear to be,” the report said.
Another witness recalled, “seeing a person out of the corner of her eye and heard a huge bang.”
Hotel staff on the 15th-floor observation deck also witnessed the incident. The report notes, “When he got to the 12th floor, [he] discovered a blue tote bag resting against the steel rail guard.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Equitz’s death.
