DWTS Season 34 Star Dylan Efron Reveals ‘Selfish Act’ That Made His ‘Life Better’

Dylan Efron easily became a fan favorite on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 because of his charming personality, willingness to learn new dances (and delivering consistently incredible performances), and his sweet smile!

This week, he and professional dance partner Daniella Karagach performed a jive routine to “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night, and it was a special moment for Efron, because he scored his first 10 from guest judge and Hall of Fame inductee, Flavor Flav. The reality TV star has opened up about the feeling of getting his first perfect score from a judge, but he has also revealed the one decision that has made his life better.

Dylan Efron Gets His First 10

“I’m so happy Flava Flav loved it and gave me that first 10,” he told Parade in an interview on November 5. “That was really special.”

He continued, “It’s to the point where I know I’m becoming a better dancer. I still am craving that dance that I just go out there and crush the performance, the dance. I know it’s coming. I thought this week could have been it, for sure.”

Competing has been an incredible experience for Efron. He has shared a lot of himself with fans, including showing his vulnerability when he dedicated his performance on Dedication Night to his little sister. Efron has many people who love him, including his beloved dog, Booey.

Adopting His Beloved Pet

Efron adopted Booey around five years ago, after following the advice of an animal trainer who recommended adopting a senior dog. “He was saying that a puppy just doesn’t know what loss is. A puppy doesn’t know right from wrong. And they’re very difficult to train,” Efron recalled the advice he was given by an animal trainer on the “Down to Earth” Season 2 set. “When you adopt, especially an older dog, they’ve had a tough life. And they just want a home. And they want a better life.”

“The Traitors” Season 3 winner also discussed how Booey has made his life so much better. “Ultimately, a human getting a dog is a selfish act. We want to make our lives better, and Booey’s made my life better,” he said. “But at the same time, you can also help a dog’s life. And that’s a really rewarding feeling. And I think you feel that even more with a senior pet.”
