Got it

Dreamworld has been a fixture of the quintessential Gold Coast family holiday for nearly half a century, and Australia’s largest theme park shows no signs of slowing down, with $150 million worth of enhancements in the works.

A reboot of the Big Brother reality series will see the return of the titular set to its spiritual Dreamworld home, adding to a host of new attractions.

If it’s been a while between visits, it’s time to plan a Dreamworld trip.

Coast Entertainment Holdings, the company behind Dreamworld, has launched a slew of new rides, with plans underway for a major expansion. The new proposed development will span 30 hectares, and includes a new tourism centre, resort and residences.

If it’s been a while between visits, and you’re keen to study up on the hottest new park additions, here’s everything you need to know before planning a visit to Dreamworld.

Big Brother is watching

Big Brother returns to Dreamworld with new host Mel Tracina.Ten

The fourth iteration of the reality series is going back to its roots with live evictions, public voting and a 24/7 live-stream. Visitors can access free tickets to the live shows, which kick off on November 16, described as a high-energy event packed with cheering fans and unpredictable TV antics (it is live, after all). A new must-ride coaster for thrillseekers

Brace yourselves: the Steel Taipan.

Dreamworld’s thrilling new coaster Steel Taipan packs a speedy, venomous punch. It’s the first triple-launched coaster in the southern hemisphere, meaning it uses a magnetic propulsion system to launch the coaster train three separate times to build speed rapidly. The 1.2-kilometre coaster can reach stomach-dropping speeds of more than 100km/h, with the unique added feature of a world-first “Tailwhip” spinning seat, for the adrenalin heads among us – though the ride is already thrilling enough.

The largest gyro swing in the southern hemisphere

On track for a late 2025 opening, King Claw will replace the old Claw ride, with early details hinting at the ride being significantly larger and more thrilling. Brace yourself for an exhilarating swing, 50 per cent higher than its predecessor.

All your childhood TV favourites

Launched in 2023, the Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland is a zone for its youngest guests, with rides, shows, and meet-and-greets with beloved Australian characters like Bananas in Pyjamas and Humpty Dumpty.

A new jungle zone and world-first ride

Rivertown’s new Murrissippi Motors ride.

Opened in 2024, Rivertown replaces the former Wigglesworld site with a family-friendly playground that feels like you’ve been dropped in the middle of the jungle. Among the new rides is Dreamworld’s newest coaster, Jungle Rush, featuring a world-first “triple-switch” system that enables the ride to change tracks and direction at a second’s notice, for added surprise twists and turns as you weave through caves and jungle scenes. For those after a more relaxing jaunt, the new Murrissippi Motors ride puts visitors in the seat of a restored vintage car for a scenic spin through the heart of Rivertown, passing ancient relics and treasures along the way. Cap your jungle explorations with a meal at Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant, set in an immersive jungle setting alive with animatronic animals.
