Cardinals’ Marvin Harrison Jr. out at least one week with appendicitis

The Arizona Cardinals will be short-handed for a key divisional game.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is set to miss Sunday’s contest against the San Francisco 49ers after undergoing surgery for appendicitis, head coach Jonathan Gannon said on Wednesday.

Harrison Jr., 23, has 34 catches for 525 yards and four touchdowns in nine games on the season.

It will mark the 2024 fourth-overall pick’s first missed game of his career. Gannon said it’s unclear when Harrison Jr. will return.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals’ receiver room took another hit when Gannon revealed that Zay Jones tore his Achilles and is out for the season.

Jones, 30, finishes his year with 12 catches for 138 yards.

At 3-6, the Cardinals must start winning soon if they hope to make a late-season push into the playoffs. The 49ers (6-4) are one spot ahead in third place in the NFC West.
