Broncos poach familiar wide receiver off Giants’ practice squad

For the second time this week, the Denver Broncos have poached an offensive player off an NFC East team’s practice squad.

The Broncos are signing wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey off the New York Giants’ practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The news comes one day after Denver poached offensive lineman Geron Christian off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad.

Humphrey (6-4, 225 pounds) is clearly a favorite of coach Sean Payton. The 27-year-old receiver played under Payton with the New Orleans Saints and later reunited with the coach with the Broncos. Humphrey excelled as a blocker and special teams player from 2023-2024, and Denver attempted to re-sign him during free agency, but he opted to instead join the Giants this spring.

Before leaving for New York, Humphrey hauled in 44 receptions for 455 yards and four touchdowns in 34 games. He’ll now return to his old club to build on those totals.

The Broncos had room for LJH after placing linebacker Karene Reid (hamstring) on injured reserve on Tuesday. The team’s 53-man roster is now full going into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
