A Heartbreaking Journey and High-Stakes Decisions

ITV1/STV, 8pm stream on ITVX/STV Player or YouTube

The Platts face one of their most devastating days yet, as Shona and David prepare to learn the truth about their unborn baby’s condition.

The first half hour unfolds as a unique split-perspective episode, showing the same morning through both Shona and David’s eyes.

From Shona’s perspective, emotions are raw and overwhelming — she can’t understand how David seems so calm when their baby’s life could be hanging in the balance. Her frustration boils over, and in a moment of anguish, she orders him out of the car, declaring she doesn’t want him at the hospital.

We then see the same events from David’s point of view. Determined to stay strong for Shona, he hides his fear behind a façade of composure. Inside, though, he’s falling apart, struggling with the weight of what lies ahead.

Reality catches up with them both as the consultant delivers devastating news — the baby has a tumour on her neck. If they continue with the pregnancy, Shona will need complex surgery, and the tumour could be cancerous. As the enormity of the decision sinks in, Shona and David are left shattered — how can they move forward when their baby’s future is so uncertain?

Elsewhere on the Street, Will lies to Eva and Ben, claiming he’s at an athletics meeting in Leeds, though the truth is far less innocent. Kevin hosts a poker night, but when he raises the stakes by gambling his car, Sally grows increasingly worried about his behaviour. Meanwhile, Michael accidentally lets slip to Tyrone that Fiz had a meltdown at work, and Sally fills Tim in on the latest gossip — Lou’s facing court after a fight in prison.

But the pressure only mounts when George receives a message from Kobina: Kojo must return to Ghana. Already overwhelmed, George is left reeling as his family’s future threatens to unravel before his eyes.

As tensions flare, Kat steps in to defuse the situation, offering Vicki her support and a calming word, even as chaos brews around them.

But when he discovers Tane’s organised something far more elaborate, Cash grows uneasy. Later, after a chat with Eden about their vows, he realises the wedding should reflect their wishes — not anyone else’s.

The pair boldly ask Abigail and Tane to cancel both parties, unaware the pair have a secret Plan B in motion. Soon, Cash and Eden are surprised with a combined outdoor bash at the farm — complete with drinks, laughter, and a few heartfelt moments.

However, Eden’s vow-writing struggles continue to haunt her. Over dinner at Salt, she tries once again to coax Cash into showing her his vows, but he refuses. Back home, she snoops — and finally finds them. But instead of reassurance, she’s horrified.
