Three teens dead, 1 in hospital after crash in Ontario town: police

Three teenagers in Hanover, Ont., are dead and a fourth is in hospital with critical injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday.
According to West Grey police, the crash occurred on Concession 2 Side Rd., near Allan Park Road, at approximately 12 p.m. in Hanover, a small town south of Owen Sound.
Const. Alison Iles said officers arrived to find a smoking vehicle that had flipped over several times; three of the teens inside the vehicle were ejected.
“Despite the best efforts of all on scene, three youths were pronounced deceased at the scene,” said police in a statement.

The fourth youth was transported to London Health Sciences Centre by ORNGE with life-threatening injuries.
Iles said the youth remains in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Walkerton District Community School said in a statement that the four students were part of the John Diefenbaker Senior School community.
“The impact of this tragedy is far reaching and extends to our students, staff, and families,” Walkerton District Community School wrote in a post on Facebook. “We recognize the shock and sadness they are experiencing may be compounded by our recent school tragedy.”

The school went on to ask students and staff to wear purple or their Riverhawk Strong T-shirts to school on Thursday in support of the senior school.
The Bluewater District School Board also posted a statement saying its mental health staff and tragedy response team were at John Diefenbaker Senior School to provide grief counselling and other support to students and staff.
“We are here for them and each other as we walk a difficult road ahead,” the board’s chief, Jane Thomson, and director of education AJ Keene wrote. “We grieve with the families, students and staff of JDSS, and others across our district who have been impacted by the tragedy.”
West Gray police say it is working with Ontario Provincial Police in its investigation.
