Wind gusts up to 60 mph and several inches of rain are possible in parts of the North Bay through Thursday morning as a strong Pacific storm moves in, meteorologists say.

A high wind warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday along the Sonoma Coast and in the Marin County hills, where gusts could reach 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the North Bay and wider Bay Area will be under a wind advisory for the same period, with gusts between 35 and 50 mph and steady winds of 15 to 30 mph.

The strong winds could make driving difficult — especially for larger vehicles — and may knock down trees or cause power outages, forecasters said. Residents are urged to secure or bring in loose outdoor items. Winds are likely to ease by Thursday evening.

Rain is expected to peak around the same time as the winds early Thursday.

Most of the North Bay is forecast to receive ½ to 1 inch of rain between Wednesday night and Friday evening, while mountain areas could get 2 to 5 inches. The heaviest downpours are anticipated early Thursday, when minor flooding is possible.

There’s also a slight chance of thunderstorms — with lightning and brief heavy rain — through Thursday, according to the weather service.
