Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar admitted to hospital with heart issue

Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar was admitted to hospital on Tuesday after experiencing a heart issue.
His club Sao Paulo said in a statement the 34-year-old was in a stable condition and remains under observation, and he will undergo further tests to determine a diagnosis.
Sao Paulo explained Oscar “presented an incident with cardiological changes” during tests carried out as part of the club’s preparation for their 2026 pre-season.
He was treated by the club’s medical team and staff from Einstein Hospital Israelita in Sao Paulo, who were already present on site.
“As per standard procedure and respecting the player’s privacy, new information will be released as soon as there is an update from the medical team, in agreement with Oscar,” the club statement added.
Oscar re-joined Sao Paulo, the club he concluded his youth career with and made his professional debut for, in December 2024.
He made 27 appearances in all competitions Sao Paulo during the 2025 season, providing three goals and 11 assists, but spent significant time out with muscular injuries and a lower back fracture.
Oscar returned to Sao Paulo following seven years in China with Shanghai Port, where he won three Chinese Super League titles.
He previously spent five and a half years at Chelsea, winning the Premier League twice, between 2012 and 2017, and has made 48 appearances for the Brazil national team,
