Public Works is reminding Nova Scotian drivers to prepare for winter conditions.

To be ready for snowy and icy conditions over the next several months, vehicles should have winter tires, an emergency kit and cold temperature antifreeze.

They remind us to slow down and leave additional space between vehicles as it takes more time and distance to brake safely in winter conditions.

There are 400 snowplows and other snow-clearing vehicles with crews ready to clear the roads day and night across the province.

Minister of Public Works Fred Tilley emphasizes how important it is for drivers to take their time and to stay back from snowplows.

Other tips include clearing snow off the vehicle, keeping at least half full gas tank and
wearing seatbelts.

Also, plan ahead and allow extra time for any possible delays.
