Brisbane is on the verge of receiving Landers Pocket, a new 16-hectare entertainment precinct slated to open soon, built next to BNE. Developers are anticipating a new local family, guest, and corporate visitation market around the precinct’s 800-person capacity brewery, distillery, gastropub, and other facilities. The developers and airport authorities are saying that Landers Pocket will be a destination for local families, visitors, and corporate groups.

Brisbane Airport terminal is a few minutes away and Landers Pocket is also bordered on the other side by the DFO shopping centre. This is hence also part of the new ‘Airport City’ vision for the land surrounding the Brisbane Airport..

What the Precinct Includes

According to the airport’s official newsroom, the Brisbane Airport Corporation welcomed the development as a first‑of‑its‑kind leisure destination for travellers and residents.

The key features of Landers Pocket:

  • The anchor venue will be an 800‑seat brewery, distillery and gastropub — operated by the team behind 4 Pines Brewing Co. or in partnership with them, with 32 taps of brew on‑site.
  • A large alfresco beer garden, indoor dining space, elevated menu showcasing local produce and seafood.
  • Sport and entertainment elements: the existing Golf Central driving‑range facility will continue, alongside new mini‑golf, party bays, and event spaces.
  • Future stages foresee a 3,000‑person amphitheatre and a 1,000‑person lawn for festivals and markets.

Location & Vision

Landers Pocket is situated at 40 The Circuit, Brisbane Airport QLD 4008. The site is described in media as roughly four times the size of the inner‑Brisbane waterfront venue Howard Smith Wharves, at “the biggest entertainment precinct to open in Queensland since Howard Smith Wharves”.

As the airport corporation put it: “this will be the newest venue for Brisbane to experience, injecting jobs and vibrancy into the Skygate precinct of the airport.”

Economic & Social Impact

The precinct is anticipated to generate employment in hospitality, events and servicing functions. As the airport corporation noted, the development will add “jobs and vibrancy” to the area.

For Brisbane residents: this offers a new reason to visit the airport district not just for travel or shopping but for live entertainment, dining and social gatherings. For travellers: it gives a destination option adjacent to the terminal hub.

At a broader level: the project ties in with Queensland’s ambition to expand its experience economy — adding food, drink and entertainment as tourism drawcards, not just beaches or theme parks.

Timeline & Status

Media sources report that Landers Pocket is scheduled to open in early November 2025. The anchor gastropub and brewery venue is explicitly mentioned with 800‑seat capacity. Work is already underway, according to reports.

However: while the airport corporation site confirms the development broadly, some of the numbers (800‑seat capacity, 16 hectares) come via media coverage and operator announcements rather than detailed government release documents. So they remain subject to change.

Considerations & What to Watch

The promise is certainly exciting and a few things will certainly matter.

With thousands of visitors expected, parking, transport links and traffic management will be critical. Infrastructure and access are always critical to any development.

Noise, aviation interface and operating hours will certainly be issues. Proximity to an airport adds additional layers of regulation and community interest.

The big test will be whether the precinct maintains this vibrancy.

The amphitheatre and festival lawn are future expansions. How quickly these will be delivered will determine how the precinct’s full value proposition will be delivered.
