This week marks the arrival of some big films that are now on VOD, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s box office hit One Battle After Another, the Channing Tatum crime caper Roofman, and Jennifer Lopez’s latest, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Kiss of the Spider Woman was a bit of a bomb at the box office, so here’s hoping it’ll do better with home audiences. The 2025 Kiss of the Spider Woman stars Diego Luna as Valentin, a political prisoner who bonds with his cellmate, Molina (played by Tonatiuh). Molina regales Valentin with a retelling of his favorite Hollywood musical, starring his favorite Hollywood diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez). The film was written and directed by musical director Bill Condon (known for Chicago and Dreamgirls, among others), the new Kiss of the Spider Woman movie is based on the stage musical of the same name by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb (which itself was based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig).

In One Battle After Another, the critically acclaimed new film from Paul Thomas Anderson, Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Bob Ferguson, a former revolutionary who went into hiding to protect his young daughter. Years later, his daughter (Chase Infiniti) is a teen just trying to live a normal life when the authorities track her and Bob down, sending them on a wild chase across the hilliest California highway you ever saw.
If you like truth-is-stranger-than-fiction tales, check out the Channing Tatum crime comedy Roofman which arrived to digital this week. Roofman is inspired by the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, an escaped fugitive who was known for stealing from McDonalds by entering the restaurant via the roof. After he escaped prison, Manchester lived for a period of time inside the walls of a Toys “R” Us. The film co-stars Kirsten Dunst, LaKeith Stanfield, and Peter Dinklage and is out now on VOD.
