Tom Fletcher’s son Buzz Fletcher admitted he’s “really proud” to perform with his dad for the first time for Children in Need.

On Friday (November 14) stars will be joining forces for BBC Children in Need’s 2025 Appeal Show. It was back in 1980 that the first BBC Children in Need telethon was broadcast.

An impressive £1 million was raised in the first show, and since then it has raised more than £1 billion. The live three-hour broadcast from Salford will take place at 7pm on BBC One and will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

The presenting team features a number of returning hosts, including Paddy McGuinness, Mel Giedroyc, Lenny Rush, Rochelle Humes and Vernon Kay.

Bafta-winning TV presenter, chef and rapper Big Zuu is also making his first appearance in the line-up.

Throughout the show viewers will be able to watch performances from Lewis Capaldi and Eurovision contestants Remember Monday, plus sketches from popular BBC shows including Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice and Gladiators.

McFly singer Tom Fletcher will also be performing with a very special guest – his 11-year-old son Buzz Fletcher for the first time.

They will perform a special song, taken from the upcoming animation, Pudsey and the Thread of Hope.

Thread of Hope is a new 25-minute animated film for CBeebies, coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this December. The film focuses on themes of connection and togetherness, with the aim of bringing people closer.

The duo will be accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and they joined Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty on the BBC sofa to chat ahead of their performance.

Tom gushed: “When I was invited to perform a song from the animation with my son for the very first time, I knew it was a truly special opportunity. Sharing that moment together will be so incredibly meaningful, especially as it celebrates Pudsey’s 40-year legacy.

“Across the UK, children and young people are facing challenges that no one should face alone.

“Everyone needs a thread of hope, and I hope that through this performance – as well as the animation and book – we can raise vital funds and awareness to ensure children have the support, care, and connection they need when it matters most”.

Buzz shared his father’s excitement, as he added: “I am so excited to be performing alongside my dad for the first time on TV, I have seen how incredibly hard my dad has worked on the animation and book, so feel really proud to be standing beside him for such a brilliant cause.”

Children In Need airs on BBC One at 7pm and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
