When Hollywood Was Great: Sense and Sensibility Back in Theaters

It is great and sad at the same time that Hollywood is releasing its formerly fantastic movies in theaters. It’s great because people can have a chance to see them on the big screen. It’s sad because it’s a reminder of just how badly storytelling and movie-making have become in comparison.
One of the GOATS is most definitely Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility. Sony is re-releasing it to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Shocking, I know. I’ve been online as long as that, though I didn’t start this website until 1999.
It was a very strange Oscar year. The electorate was divided between Sense and Sensibility and Apollo 13. Ron Howard would win the DGA but then not get nominated for the Oscar. Ang Lee would be nominated for the DGA but then also not get nominated for the Oscar, so that left Mel Gibson and Braveheart to win Picture and Director.
