In case you’d forgotten, Claire Danes can act. From the makers of Homeland, she plays an author pulled into a twisted game with her sociopathic new neighbour.

Directed by two-time Oscar winner Angus Wall, this intimate documentary follows Murphy’s impressive journey from teen stand-up to Saturday Night Live breakthrough to international superstar. Fan or not, Murphy redefined comedy and Hollywood stardom over the course of a chequered career, playing everything from that Raw guy, to cops, to Clumps, to the world’s most famous donkey. This portrayal examines how Murphy broke barriers, amplified black talent, and created a legacy on his own terms. It includes earnest input from Dave Chappelle, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Hart and Jerry Seinfeld, among others, as they celebrate the Oscar-nominated actor and his nigh five-decade career. Over the course of his 64 years, he’s created genres, inspired future actors, fathered no less than 10 children, starred in almost 60 movies (the best of which is The Golden Child IMO), and been dubbed a “once in a century star”.

Selling The OC

The Oppenheim Group returns, and as the competition heats up for some high-stakes listings, some may get burned as rumours divide the team (I’ll always be Team Polly after her stint on Battle Camp). If reality-based drama is your thing, then give Italian offering Mrs Playmen a whirl. Or, if fiction is preferable, Kirstin Wigg returns to Palm Royal on AppleTV+.

Ever wonder how close we are to televised snuff? Brazil nearly crossed the line when it aired the real-time hostage crisis of a teen girl abducted by her ex (they started dating when he was 19 and she was 12). An equally disturbing South American documentary is 50 Seconds: The Fernando Báez Case.
