The CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals will feature a heavyweight showdown Friday night when the Mission Viejo Diablos (9-1) travel to Santa Ana Stadium to face the Mater Dei Monarchs (7-2) in what promises to be an explosive playoff matchup.

Mission Viejo enters with tremendous offensive momentum behind senior quarterback Luke Fahey, an Ohio State commit who delivered a performance for the ages in the regular-season finale – throwing for nearly 600 yards and accounting for six touchdowns in a 76-point offensive explosion against Los Alamitos.

The Monarchs, however, bring playoff pedigree and historical dominance to the table, having defeated the Diablos in four of their five postseason meetings since 2010. With Mission Viejo’s high-octane offense squaring off against Mater Dei’s championship tradition, Southern California football fans can expect a quarterfinal classic under the lights tonight.

Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT on Friday, November 14 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
