Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy’s Smash-Hit Crime Series Finally Gets the Update We’ve Been Waiting For

The Harrigans are back — and so is the chaos. Paramount+’s hit gangster saga MobLand has officially begun filming its long-awaited second season, with a new on-set image confirming the return of Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy, and Helen Mirren. The news comes months after the first season’s explosive finale left viewers hanging — and weeks after the show found a new streaming home on HBO Max, where it quickly shot back up the charts.
Created and directed by Guy Ritchie and Jez Butterworth, the series is a stylish, blood-soaked blend of crime, family drama, and dark comedy — very much in the vein of the filmmaker’s earlier hits Snatch, The Gentlemen, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. And while Ritchie’s projects have always been filled with rogues and rebels, MobLand’s first season brought something even grittier: a Shakespearean crime epic about power, betrayal, and legacy.
While details about MobLand Season 2’s plot remain under wraps, early reports suggest the fallout from Season 1’s finale will be central. With loyalties tested and bodies buried, Conrad and Maeve’s empire faces threats both from within and outside the family.
Sources close to production hinted that the show plans to “go even bigger” for the new season — expanding the world of MobLand beyond London to explore the family’s connections across Europe and the U.S.
How Good Is ‘MobLand’?
Collider gave the series a positive review and hailed its addition to Paramount+, praising the performances of the cast — particularly Brosnan and Mirren.
MobLand further comes to life whenever Brosnan and Mirren are on-screen. Both of the performers lean into what we typically expect from them, but it’s not long before we begin to lose trust in their characters. They are evil to begin with, despite what their cunning charisma may tell you, but their relationships with Harry, members of their family, and even their own partners are constantly called into question.
Much like Taylor Sheridan has demonstrated through shows like Yellowstone and Tulsa King, Ritchie has a real knack for making TV shows that’ll keep you invested. MobLand isn’t a grand reinvention of the gangster show, but it does offer plenty of twists and turns, paired with a magnetic cast that will have you eagerly anticipating every new episode.
MobLand Season 2 is in production now. Season 1 is streaming on Paramount+ and HBO Max.
