Holllly shit – what a knockout to kick off UFC 322 at Madison Square Garden! Well, I guess technically it didn’t “kick off” the night because we had a bit of a “meh” fight beforehand, but I’m choosing to forget that and consider this the true start to the action here tonight. Baisangur Susurkaev just hit Eric McConico so hard he full on Flair flopped in the octagon, only to look up to a fight that was already over.
Even after a couple dozen cards cageside over the years (and plenty of intense Rough N Rowdy events on top of that), it still feels surreal to watch a knockout like that from this close up….
MSG is completely sold out tonight, and were the hottest ticket in town on Gametime all week long; it’s clear the diehards are already up in the second level while the casuals in the lower bowl are gonna show up later….
Susurkaev definitely injected some adrenaline into the building with that highlight reel KO – and we could only hope it continues with a card this stacked….
