The Exact Moment in Stranger Things Trailer That Confirmed Eddie Munson Will Return

Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson died last season, after being attacked by DemoBats. However, there is a new fan theory that hints Munson will return in the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
The theory links the world of Hawkins with Dungeons and Dragons, where the evil Vecna was killed by Kas, the vampire lieutenant of Vecna in the game. Given how Munson died after getting viciously bitten by DemoBats, this theory posits that he is now a vampire who will save the day in Season 5.
In Dungeons and Dragons, Kas attacks Vecna, leading to his death. As can be seen at the 2:18 mark in the Stranger Things Season 5 trailer, it looks like Vecna is fighting an unknown, powerful enemy, which is similar to the Dungeons and Dragons scene.
Watch the moment here:
While it is just a theory, if it turns out to be true, it can only mean one thing: that fan-favorite Eddie Munson is coming back as a Vampire who will save the day once again by killing Vecna!

The Duffer Brothers Have Confirmed Joseph Quinn Won’t Be in Season 5

Joseph Quinn has been pretty cheeky about whether he will be in Stranger Things Season 5 or not. Last year, at a convention, he teased that he knew whether Eddie might be in the concluding season but refused to give an answer (via ScreenRant).
However, the Duffer Brothers confirmed in a new interview with Empire that The Fantastic Four star will not be returning to the show.
I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead. Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot ‘Stranger Things’? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.
Well, despite the creators’ confirmation, fans still have hope that they might get to see Joseph Quinn’s fan-favorite character once again.
Stranger Things Season 5 Finale Won’t Fail the Fans and the Cast
Stranger Things fans have been worried whether the Netflix series will have a satisfying ending or will it turn out to be like the infamous disappointing finales of other TV juggernauts like Game of Thrones or Lost. However, the Duffers are aware of the massive responsibility they have had, and as Shawn Levy remarked to Variety, they refuse to let the series be anything like such shows.
They have had their hearts broken by shows that they loved that failed fans in the end. They did not want, and do not want, and refuse to be one of those shows.
The duo is pretty aware that the way they are concluding the show is one of the most important creative decisions they will ever take. In this way, they have also made sure to tie all loose ends and created a storyline that connects.
We do every last remaining thing we wanted to do with the Demogorgons and Mind Flayer and Vecna and the Upside Down and Hawkins and these characters. This is a complete story. It’s done.
States Matt as Netflix’s chief creative officer, Bela Bajaria added that they have spent as much money as they could to bring the vision to life. Even stars of the show have often remarked that the ending is better than they had hoped (via TIME).

Stranger Things Season 5 will be released in three parts on Netflix: Volume 1 premieres on November 26, 2025, Volume 2 on December 25, 2025, and the series finale arrives on December 31, 2025.
