Strictly Come Dancing viewers said they were ‘fuming’ for Karen Carney as they continued to make a major prediction for the former footballer.
The Lioness was back in the ballroom on Saturday night (November 15) alongside professional dance partner Carlos Gu as week eight of the competition took place.
And there was some extra pressure put upon the remaining eight couples this weekend as only seven of them are able to make it through to next weekend’s annual Blackpool special, where they’ll perform in the famous Tower Ballroom.
In a bid to secure their place, Karen danced an American Smooth to You Don’t Own Me by Saygrace feat G-Eazy alongside Carlos.
Judge Anton Du Beke said Karen was “brilliant but brittle” while Craig Revel Horwood called her dancing “spikey”, before landing in fifth place on the leaderboard with a score of 31 points.
Following their performance Carlos broke down in tears as he reflected on some of the comments, particularly from Shirley Ballas who said: “The judge said: “From week one to now your posture has come along so beautifully.” Shirley added: “I see your hard work.”
Comforting Carlos as he began to cry, Tess said: “I know that meant a lot to you what Shirley said.”
Speaking to Claudia before hearing their scores, Carlos then broke down in tears. He said: “She [Karen] worked so hard this week. I know that ballroom is not her strength but she came into the training room and said ‘Carlos I really want to try hard. I know my back has problems but I really want to show that I’m improving.’
“So just hearing them say that you have no idea how hard she has been working.”
But some Strictly fans thought Karen and Carlos deserved a higher score from the judges, and added their prediction that she could be a finalist – and even win the 2025 series.
