Dancing with the Stars fans believe their suspicions about a potential romance between Robert Irwin and Xochitl Gomez have been confirmed with just one look from Witney Carson.
During the 20th anniversary special last week, the wildlife conservationist and the Marvel actress were paired up for a jive routine during the dance relay portion of the episode. After their performance, judge Derek Hough gushed about the “chemistry” between the pair.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed Robert’s dance pro partner and choreographer Witney made a face that they believe hinted that there may be something going on between the young stars behind the scenes.
During the judges’ remarks, Derek raved, “By the way, Robert and Xochitl, the chemistry! Excuse me!” as Robert, 21, and Xochitl, 19, burst into coy giggles.
Meanwhile, Witney looked directly into the camera and smiled while raising her eyebrows up and down, which viewers took as confirmation of a connection between the two stars, who have been shipped by fans of the show.
Robert danced around the subject when asked about his relationship with the Season 32 winner by TMZ. “Oh my gosh, we had the best time,” he told the outlet. “That dance was so much fun,” he added, “She’s the best, it’s been really, really great.”
The popular contestant, whose father is the late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, told Deadline in a November 12 interview, “The thing that Xochitl brings is so much energy and fun and passion.” He continued, “It feels like we’re so on the same wavelength when it comes to approaching the jive. We’re like, ‘Make sure it’s really fun and then Witney can come in and make sure your toes are pointed.'”
Fans of the show noticed the sparks flying between the two during their performance, speculating that they may be more than friends.

Witney gave some insight in what it was like working with Robert and Xochitl during the 20th anniversary special. “I never felt more old than when they were in the studio,” she quipped. “There were just lots of giggles and lots of I don’t even know, but they are extremely hard workers and they got the job done.”
Xochitl was one of six Mirrorball Trophy winners to return to the show for the special episode, including Season 20 winner Rumer Willis and Season 4 champ Apolo Anton Ohno.
Despite the fact that Robert and Xochitl are staying tight-lipped about their connection, fans believe that Witney all but confirmed their theory with just one look.
