‘Send Help’ – Sam Raimi Calls His New Movie “Outrageous”… Even for Sam Raimi

What happens when Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell) joins forces with Freddy vs. Jason and Friday the 13th (2009) writers Damian Shannon & Mark Swift? Well, if you’re hoping for some outrageous horror, Raimi promises that you won’t be let down by Send Help.
Sam Raimi tells Empire Online in a new interview this week, “[Damian Shannon and Mark Swift] pitched the story, and I laughed and couldn’t believe they were doing this.”
“It was really outrageous, even for me, who makes outrageous horror films.”
While Raimi does note that Send Help shares some passing similarities to The Evil Dead, he also makes it clear that his new movie will deliver a horror of an entirely different kind.
“There is a similarity,” Raimi muses, “but it’s not some outside force they’re dealing with here. What they’re coming to terms with is who they really are. And as the layers start shedding, we see certain conflicts emerge.” Watch the previously released Send Help trailer below.
Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien star in Send Help, in theaters January 30, 2026.
In the film, “Linda Liddle (Rachel McAdams) and Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien) are two colleagues who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after they are the only survivors of a plane crash. They must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it is an unsettling and darkly humorous battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.”
Send Help is expected to be a darkly comedic psychological thriller. Stay tuned for more.
