Large police presence responds to incident in Lackawanna County

At around 10 p.m. Monday evening, a heavy police presence swarmed the 200 block of 5th Street, where 28-year-old Joshua Timothy Seamans had committed crimes of terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.

While Seamans was sleeping and intoxicated, a family member woke him up to tell him it was time to leave.

Seamans then walked to the kitchen, retrieved a loaded revolver, and pointed it at his family (four individuals).

While three of the family members vacated the residence, his sister remained inside with him.

Upon arrival, police shut down the street and repeatedly demanded via loudspeaker: “Joshua, this is the Blakely Police. Please give us a call,” attempting to get him out of the house.

With no response, police called in Lackawanna County SWAT.

After nearly two hours, Seamans surrendered and walked out his front door toward law enforcement.

There were no shots fired and no injuries.

As he was arrested, police found the firearm in his waistband, loaded with six rounds.
