Alert Ready test to set off your radio, phone, and screens at 12:55 a.m.

Your radio, phone, and screens are going to light up at exactly 12:55, Wednesday afternoon, if all goes well with a nationwide test of the Alert Ready system.
Today’s test will send the emergency signal to devices in Waterloo Region, across Ontario, and from Newfoundland and Labrador to British Columbia and Nunavut.
A social media post from Alert Ready from earlier this week gave the heads up about the coming test.
It said their emergency system is “intended in case of a life-threatening situation such as a tornado, fire or AMBER alert.”
Complaints usually come in from some members of the public about such alerts being an unnecessary nuisance, but Alert Ready says, “Given the importance of warning Canadians of an imminent threat to the safety of life or property, Canadians do not have the option to opt out of the test or actual emergency alerts.”
