The Context

The Miss Universe competition is one of the most well-known beauty pageants in the world. Participants were competing in the preliminary competitions on Wednesday, ahead of the finals in Thailand set for this weekend at the time of Henry’s fall.

What to Know

Footage of Henry falling off the stage while walking during the evening gown competition began to spread across social media on Wednesday. Miss Universe Jamaica provided an update on the incident in a statement posted to social media.

“The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization wishes to advise the public that Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, experienced a fall from the main stage during the evening gown round of the preliminary competition ahead of this weekend’s Miss Universe Finals in Thailand,” the statement reads.

She was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital. She did not suffer from any life-threatening injuries, but doctors are continuing to conduct tests to “ensure her full recovery,” the statement said.

Dozens of people responded to the social media statement, wishing Henry well for her recovery.

Henry had told The Jamaica Gleaner over the weekend that she was enjoying her time in Thailand for the competition.

“I’m doing well and I’m appreciative of all that this experience has been offering. It’s truly remarkable to be amongst 120 amazing delegates representing their countries, and to have the opportunity to experience Thai culture and hospitality,” she told the publication.

Henry is also an ophthalmologist, a doctor who specializes in medical eye care, reported The Jamaica Gleaner. She has also established the See Me Foundation, which is a charity “dedicated to providing economic and educational opportunities to members of the visually impaired community of Jamaica,” according to its Instagram.
