The former Leicester fans favourite and dressing-room hero has been unveiled as the new boss of struggling bottom-of-League-Two side Newport County.
The club have endured a nightmare season and are rock-bottom after a run of grim results in League Two with just three wins out of 16 games.
The Newport County board however insist the ex-defender’s fairytale Leicester triumph, incredible work rate and never-say-die spirit make him the perfect man to spark a miracle revival.
He arrives with immediate pressure, Newport County are adrift, leaking goals and staring at relegation square in the face.

But the new boss will hope to bring the same underdog energy that stunned the world nearly a decade ago.
He was a regular under Claudio Ranieri in the side that shocked not only the Premier League but the world by winning the title.
Like most members of that team, he was not especially fancy and had been rejected elsewhere before arriving at the King Power Stadium.
It’s the kind of story that Newport will hope he brings to the club as they take on Oldham Athletic in his first game in charge this weekend.

A positive result would be the perfect response, with fans on social media still divided on the appointment.
One Newport County fan said: “I bet he will still do a better job than the previous manager.”
Another said: “This is a wild risk, hope it pays off, but I’m not confident it will. That said, up the fuching Port.”
While a third added: “I can now see us staying up.”
