Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn points and status credits on budget subsidiary Jetstar through a new annual membership that the airline hopes will see off competition from major rival Virgin Australia.
For a fee of $199, members of the popular loyalty program will be able to earn status credits at an equivalent rate to many Qantas flights, even when booking the cheapest Jetstar fares.
