Dolphins poach cornerback off Rams’ practice squad

The Dolphins see potential in A.J. Green, signing him off the Rams’ practice squad

The Los Angeles Rams lost a promising cornerback to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday. The Dolphins signed A.J. Green II off the Rams’ practice squad, adding him to their active roster after placing cornerback JuJu Brents on injured reserve.

Green gets his first opportunity to be on a 53-man roster since he was with the Cleveland Browns in 2023, though the Rams did elevate him to their game day roster temporarily twice this season. He played both games but never saw the field on defense.

The 27-year-old corner was a standout performer in training camp and the preseason for the Rams, nearly earning a spot on the Week 1 roster. At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, he has good size for the position and has picked off two passes despite playing only 318 defensive snaps in his career.

The Rams wasted no time filling his spot on the practice squad, signing defensive back Alex Johnson on Wednesday. The team also claimed safety Chris Smith II off waivers this week, bolstering their secondary after losing Quentin Lake to an elbow injury.
