Men’s Basketball Takes On Arizona State in Thursday Showdown

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team looks to keep its four-game win streak going when it faces Big 12 opponent Arizona State on Thursday, Nov. 20. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
After dropping its season opener on the road by a mere point at Oregon, the Rainbow Warriors have since reeled off four straight wins, three of them by 26 points or more. Arizona State, meanwhile, comes to the islands having won three of its first four games, including a 75-62 home win over Georgia State on Monday night.
GAME PROMOTIONS
- Thursday night’s matchup against Arizona State will be sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank.
- All Military personnel attending the game will receive 50% off tickets.
- They can purchase online and pick up at will call, where they can provide their military ID (active or retired) for the discount, or purchase the ticket box office on the day of the game.
- UH will honor and recognize the historic 442nd Infantry Regiment at halftime, with 28 members joining us on the floor.
- Adding to the recognition, the Rainbow Warrior basketball team will be wearing the patch of the 442 Infantry, drawing the slogan “Go For Broke.”
- Active Navy sailors from the U.S. Pacific Fleet will also be recognized during the game.

NEWS & NOTES
- UH faces Arizona State for the first time in 27 years when it hosts the Sun Devils on Thursday.
- UH won the last meeting, 90-73, in the opening round of the 1998 NIT in Honolulu.
- Arizona State will be the second Power 4 team UH faces this year. The ‘Bows fell at Oregon, 60-59, in its season opener on Nov. 4.
- UH has since won four straight home games, including a trio of wins to capture its second straight OUTRIGGER Rainbow Classic title.
- Arizona State is coming off a 75-62 home win over Georgia State and will be playing its first road game of the season in a stop over prior to the 2025 Maui Invitational.
- UH and Arizona State share one common opponent in Utah Tech. The Sun Devils defeated the Trailblazers at home, 81-66 on Nov. 9. UH defeated Utah Tech at home as well, 68-62, in its last outing on Nov. 15.
- UH is aiming for its fifth straight win, which would be UH’s longest such streak since beginning the 2023-24 season 5-0.
- A win over Arizona State would also mark UH’s first over a Power Conference team since defeating Washington State in the semifinals of the 2022 Diamond Head Classic.
- UH has trailed for a grand total of 1:23 out of 160 minutes in its last four games.
- Senior center Isaac Johnson has posted double-doubles in three of the last four games, including a career-high 25 points, 11 rebounds and four 3FG in UH’s win over Manhattan on Friday.
- Through its first five games, UH leads the Big West and ranks 26th in the NCAA in scoring defense (61.6 ppg).
- The ‘Bows also rank 29th nationally in FTA per game (30.6), 32nd in FTM per game (22.2) and 36th in rebound margin (+12.4).
