Could THIS be the scheme that Todd set-up!? Kandi Burruss to divorce Todd Tucker after 11 years

After more than a decade of marriage, shared ventures, and blended-family milestones, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker are officially parting ways.

In an exclusive statement to People, Burruss, 49, confirmed the couple’s decision to divorce, marking the end of a relationship that began on the set of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and blossomed into one of reality TV’s most enduring love stories and power coupledom.

“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” Burruss told People magazine. “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect. I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition.”

A Love Story Born on Reality TV

Burruss and Tucker, 52, first crossed paths in 2011 while filming Season 4 of RHOA. The connection was immediate, and by January 2013 they were engaged, and in April 2014, they became husband and wife. Together, they welcomed two children: Ace, now 9, and Blaze, 5. Their blended family also includes Burruss’ daughter Riley, 23, and Tucker’s daughter Kaela, 29.

Through the years, the pair often spoke candidly about what made their marriage work. In 2022, Burruss said the secret was simple: “Just great communication and having fun together. We have a real understanding of each other.”

Partners in Life, and Business

Their marriage wasn’t just romantic; it was entrepreneurial. Burruss and Tucker built a small empire together, from a Georgia-based soul food restaurant chain to a trucking company, to a Bravo spinoff chronicling their family and restaurant ventures. Their willingness to dream big, and work even bigger, became a hallmark of their dynamic.

“We have intertwined our wants and desires,” Burruss said in an earlier interview with People. “Sometimes I’ll be all out of the box, but he’ll still be like, ‘Okay babe, let’s do it.’”

A Public Thank-You Before a Private Turning Point

Just days before news of the split, Burruss stood onstage at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas accepting the “Wifetime Achievement Award” at The Bravos. In her emotional speech, she made a heartfelt nod to Tucker.

“Thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions,” Burruss said to her now-estranged husband. “You earned this award too.”

A Star Still Ascending

Even amid personal upheaval, Burruss’ career continues to soar. The singer-songwriter and Broadway performer, who made her stage debut in Chicago in 2018, returns to the Great White Way on Dec. 11, starring in & Juliet through March 8.

Her producing résumé is equally formidable. She earned a Tony nomination for The Piano Lesson and has helped bring acclaimed productions like The Wiz, Thoughts of a Colored Man, and a powerhouse revival of Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, to life.

A Marriage Remembered

The couple’s relationship was once marked by joyful public celebrations. For their eighth anniversary in 2022, Burruss posted a video montage set to her song.

“Forever Love,” calling Tucker “the perfect man for me. I’m a better me with you!” Tucker echoed the sentiment in his own tribute, writing, “God is so amazing, he makes no mistakes. We have a forever kind of love.”
