Queen Plans “Immortal” Virtual Concert Experience at The Sphere Las Vegas

ABBA and KISS have pioneered the concept of virtual motion-capture concert shows, aiming to create a lasting legacy in the world of music. Building on this innovative trend, Queen is now exploring similar possibilities with their sights set on The Sphere in Las Vegas. This groundbreaking venue features a stunning 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen, capable of truly immersing an audience of 20,000.

The Sphere has already hosted an array of notable performances, including special shows by iconic bands like the Eagles and U2, alongside an AI-enhanced version of “The Wizard of Oz.” The excitement around this venue is palpable, and it seems that Queen is eager to join this lineup.

In a recent interview, Sir Brian May revealed that he has been in discussions regarding what he describes as an “immortal Queen show.” He emphasized his enthusiasm for the project while acknowledging the complexities involved. “I’m very keen,” he stated. “It takes a while, because there’s lots of dots to dot and Is to do whatever with.” He highlighted the importance of collaboration with Sony, which owns the Queen catalog and will be facilitating financial backing for the venture.

Sir Brian expressed that their motivation goes beyond profit, rooted instead in a genuine love for their music and the desire to create something meaningful. He noted, “We do it for the love now, and I think we always did. What’s more apparent now is that you do it because you love it.”

Looking ahead, Sir Brian hinted at the potential for multiple virtual Queen shows, suggesting that The Sphere might just be the beginning. “I think there will be other Spheres, and there are other people trying to do similar things,” he said. “But at the moment, the Sphere is the only immersive experience of that kind in the world.” He is eager to turn his creative ideas into reality, envisioning a monumental show that would leave a lasting imprint on the world. “I think it’s nothing less than that. I think that’s what we need to leave the world with. It will be epic,” he concluded, signaling that fans can look forward to an unforgettable experience in the near future.
