The Ashes, first Test, day two live: Head replaces injured Khawaja, belts a stunning ton as Australia close in on glory

Former Test batsman and Australia coach Justin Langer has heaped praise on Travis Head – and his brilliant ton. Head, of course, has filled in as an opener with Usman Khawaja off injured.
“Earlier I made the comparison of Travis Head to Adam Gilchrist. We remember when Gilchrist scored that hundred at the WACA,” Langer told Seven.
“That was one of the all time greatest. We’ve just seen probably one of the greatest ever Ashes innings by this man on the screen (Head). Take a bow, Travis Head. Great leadership, great skill, great innings.”
The question now is: Will Head be retained as an opener for the Brisbane Test? Is it time to say goodbye to the ageing Khawaja? Interesting call ahead.
