David Benavidez describes impact of family support, boxing future
Phoenix native boxer David Benavidez on having family in Saudi Arabia for his upcoming fight, and how he approaches his career as a world champion.
- Devin Haney will make his welterweight debut against reigning WBO champion Brian Norman Jr.
- The fight is the co-main event on the Nov. 22 card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, headlined by David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde.
While the final fight of Riyadh’s Nov. 22 fight card sees David Benavidez in a title defense against Anthony Yarde, the co-main event is a potentially show-stealing clash of unbeatens for the WBO welterweight title.
Two-division world champion Devin Haney makes his full welterweight debut as he challenges reigning champion Brian Norman Jr., widely considered to be the division’s top fighter.
Norman Jr. is fresh off a highlight-reel knockout victory against Jin Sasaki in June, his second defense since being elevated from interim WBO champion. Haney last fought in May, securing a lack luster unanimous decision over former world champion Jose Ramirez in his first fight since 2024’s no contest against Ryan Garcia.
“I think Brian Norman (Jr.) will definitely feel my power, but I think what really separates me in the fight is my skillset and experience,” Haney said on Nov. 19. “At the top, everybody can punch hard. Everybody can punch, but Brian will see something he’s never seen before on fight night.”
Here’s when Norman Jr. and Haney are expected to enter the ring on fight night.
