What ASU coach Kenny Dillingham said about Jordyn Tyson’s status

ASU football’s Kenny Dillingham focused on team amid Sam Leavitt rumor

Arizona State football head coach Kenny Dillingham is not paying attention to the rumors of quarterback Sam Leavitt transferring in the offseason.

Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has a “really good chance” of playing against Colorado in Week 13, head coach Kenny Dillingham told Arizona Sports 98.7 Friday morning, Nov. 21.

“We’ll figure out today,” Dillingham said. “It’s our fast Friday, so we’ll get to run around today. We’ll see where he stands today and then probably make a game-time decision when we’re on the field and he’s running around pregame.”

Tyson has missed three games with a hamstring issue, sustained in the victory over Texas Tech on Oct. 18. He was “questionable” in the first Big 12 availability report of the week, which came out on Nov. 19.

On Nov. 19, Tyson had a good day of practice and participated in 11-on-11 for the first time since his injury.

“His mindset from Day 1 has been, I want to play with my teammates and I want to play and I want to help and I want to get back on the field,” Dillingham said. “Did I ever know if that was going to happen? No. His injury could keep him out another two weeks, potentially. Something could happen. But his mindset was never that.

“His mindset from Day 1 was that, ‘I’m going to help this football team and I’m going to do whatever I can with my brothers on the field,’ and that’s something I can respect about him from now until eternity.”

The Sun Devils play on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Folsom Field at 6 p.m. MST. The game will be shown on ESPN2.
