Leeds United are gearing up for their return to Premier League action on Sunday.

If Leeds are going to avoid relegation, winning their home games is going to be a crucial aspect of that success, with an encounter against Aston Villa up next.

Off the back of the Whites’ defeat against Nottingham Forest, Daniel Farke is under immense pressure to keep his job, with these next few fixtures likely to make it clear as to whether or not his future is at Elland Road.

Villa are favourites to beat Leeds this weekend, and if that were to be the case, Chris Sutton can only see one thing happening.

Leeds need to beat Aston Villa

The fixture list has not been kind for Leeds, who, after Sunday’s clash with Villa, have consecutive games against Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

That run amplifies the need for the Whites to take all three points against Unai Emery’s side, who have certainly found their feet after a slow start.

Villa have lost just one of their last eight Premier League fixtures, with Leeds having won just one of their last six.

Via BBC Sport, Sutton predicted a 1-1 draw, though stated that things could get worse for Farke if his side suffers yet another defeat.

“This still feels like a massive game for them, because although they have made a reasonable start to the season, there are still some Leeds fans who are not sure about manager Daniel Farke,” Sutton said.

“If they lose at home to Aston Villa, albeit an in-form and improving Villa, then it could start to turn ugly for Farke if they fall into the relegation places.

“So Farke needs something here and it won’t be easy because Villa have the quality to hurt them, and they have got a bit of momentum too.”

Leeds have 22-year omen to fight against vs Aston Villa

Not only have Leeds failed to win any of their last five encounters against Aston Villa, but their record against them at Elland Road is a tough read.

Since 2003, the Whites have only beaten Villa once, with four defeats and six draws in that time.

Added to that, Leeds have failed to score in their last three home encounters with the Villans, and should that happen again this weekend, it would be the first time in their history that they have gone four consecutive home games without scoring against a single opponent.

There is a lot at stake for Leeds on Sunday, and more importantly, even more at stake for Farke.
