Packers vs. Vikings: Who’s in, who’s out for Week 12?

The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will announce their inactive players 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday, or roughly 10:30 a.m. CT. This post will update as more information on player availability is known and official gameday inactives for Week 12 are announced.

The big injury situation for the Packers entering Sunday is with running back Josh Jacobs, who is questionable to play because of a knee contusion. He is considered to be a true game-time decision and will work out pre-game to determine if he can go.

But the Packers also had 18 players on the injury report at various points this week, and nine different players have status designations for Sunday, including one doubtful player and six questionable players.

The Vikings are relatively healthy for late November. Only edge rusher Jonathan Greenard (shoulder) is a question mark for Sunday. The Packers, however, have a long list of injuries to overcome. Can Matt LaFleur’s team overcome the injury disparity on Sunday?

  • RB Josh Jacobs (knee)
  • CB Nate Hobbs (knee)
  • LB Quay Walker (neck)
  • WR Matthew Golden (wrist/shoulder)
  • K Lucas Havrisik (healthy scratch)
  • LB Jamon Johnson (healthy scratch)
  • OL Donovan Jennings (healthy scratch)

Jacobs (knee) is out for the first time in his Packers career. He had played in 27 straight regular season games. Hobbs will miss his third straight game with a knee injury. Walker suffered a stinger last week and didn’t practice this week. Golden is dealing with shoulder and wrist injuries and will miss his second game of the season.

The Packers will return defensive end Lukas Van Ness, who missed five straight games with a foot injury.

  • DE Jonathan Greenard
  • LB Austin Keys
  • C Joe Huber
  • OT Walter Rouse
  • TE Ben Yurosek
  • DL Elijah Williams

The Vikings will be without Greenard, the team’s leader in pressures, for the second straight game.

Big news from Tom Pelissero of NFL Media: Josh Jacobs is going to be out against the Vikings on Sunday. Jacobs bruised his knee last week in New York and dealt with swelling in the knee throughout the week. The Packers face the Detroit Lions in four days, so the veteran running back will get a few extra days to rest the injury before another big NFC North clash in Week 13. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks will be the lead backs on Sunday.

Who’s IN for Packers?

While the injury report was long, the Packers ended up removing the following players on the final injury report: G Aaron Banks, S Javon Bullard, LB Edgerrin Cooper, WR Romeo Doubs, QB Jordan Love, K Brandon McManus, CB Bo Melton, CB Keisean Nixon, DE Micah Parsons, RT Zach Tom and WR Christian Watson. This means they have no status designation and will play Sunday.

The Packers will have Love, who hurt his left shoulder last week. McManus, who wasn’t available after aggravating his right quad injury late last week, is expected to kick on Sunday.

Who’s OUT for Packers?

The Packers ruled out cornerback Nate Hobbs, who will miss his third straight game with a knee injury, and receiver Jayden Reed, who returned to practice on Friday but remains on injured reserve. Linebacker Quay Walker didn’t practice all week and was listed as doubtful to play, meaning he’s likely out for Sunday. Without Hobbs, the Packers will lean on Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine and Javon Bullard as the top three corners. Expect Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper to get more snaps with Walker likely out.

Is Josh Jacobs going to play?

Jacobs suffered a knee contusion in New York last week and is listed as questionable to play. Several reports from the weekend confirm Jacobs will be a game-time decision based on how he feels Sunday morning.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN:

From Tom Pelissero of NFL Media:

Who else are questionable for the Packers?

Jacobs is one of six questionable players for the Packers. Edge rusher Lukas Van Ness, receivers Matthew Golden, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams and backup defensive tackle Karl Brooks are all questionable to play. Van Ness could return after missing five games with a foot injury, adding a boost up front. The Packers did not elevate a wide receiver from the practice squad on Saturday, suggesting at least two of the three questionable receivers will play against the Vikings.

Is Jonathan Greenard going to play?

The Vikings could be without their top edge rusher. Greenard, who was limited on Thursday and Friday, is questionable to play. He didn’t play last week against the Bears, and early reporting suggests he’ll be out on Sunday.

From Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports:

Vikings get back Kelly

The Vikings activated starting center Ryan Kelly from injured reserve on Saturday, and the veteran is expected to play Sunday. He hasn’t played since late September. The Vikings will have their preferred starting offensive line available against the Packers.
