Shedeur Sanders could be without key pass catchers against Raiders

With Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel getting injured in the loss against the Baltimore Ravens, the question becomes how bad the injury is and what the effects on the team will be because of it.

Well, after the injury to Gabriel, the Browns’ offense stalled out and went cold, going scoreless in the second half. Shedeur Sanders was the replacement for Gabriel and had to come in in a tough spot, but could not get it going.

The new Browns injury report of players not practicing came out earlier today; some players are predictable, while others are surprising.

The first was Dillon Gabriel, of course, with the concussion injury; he has not been cleared yet, and it held him out of practice today.

The next player was tight end David Njoku.

Njoku has been on and off the injury report all year with a couple of knee injuries. The original injury came in Week 6 with a hyperextension of the knee, a knee injury is what kept him out of practice today.

It is very unfortunate for Njoku, who is such a talented player, has missed over 20 games in his career due to injury.

The next Browns player who missed practice was Alex Wright. Wright earned a new three-year $33 million contract extension earlier today, but was unable to get on the field today. Wright sustained a quad injury in Week 10.

Wright is also getting $21 million in guaranteed money from the deal, a much-earned payday for a player who already has nine tackles for loss this year, which ranks top 10 in the NFL. Wright is the guy that the Browns defense needs to continue being effective, as him playing opposite Myles Garrett is very effective.

Another guy who was not on the practice field today was wide receiver Jamari Thrash. Thrash, a player who has doubled his production in his second year, was not listed as injured. The origin of his absence is not known yet, but the Browns need all the wide receivers they can get, as the pass catchers this year have not played very well.

More than likely, those three players who missed practice due to injury will miss the Browns’ road game versus the Raiders, although there is always a chance that they get healthy in time to play. We will see if Thrash is available for Sunday in the starting debut of Shedeur Sanders.
