TTC subway closures this weekend will affect thousands of riders relying on the western end of the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth.
The transit agency has announced that it will shutter service on a significant portion of Line 2 for the entire weekend of Saturday, Nov. 29, and Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025.
Subway service will be halted on a stretch of the route spanning approximately 6.8 kilometres from Keele Station to the line’s western terminus at Kipling.
If the closure sounds familiar, that’s because the TTC has shuttered this exact stretch during previous full-weekend closures, with the most recent outage on this portion of Line 2 occurring in late September.
The outage is just the latest in a string of full weekend closures the TTC attributes to ongoing track work — one of the 38 planned full-weekend outages for 2025 announced by the transit agency in January.
Unlike other recent subway closures in the downtown core, the TTC will operate replacement shuttle buses to address the significant gap in subway coverage — connecting passengers with key inter-city connections at the west end of Line 2.
All stations along the affected stretch will remain open for passengers to purchase/reload fares and connect with surface routes. However, the TTC advises riders that the Grenview Blvd. entrance to Royal York Station will not be accessible during the closure.
The TTC plans to resume regular subway service on Monday, Dec. 1, at approximately 6 a.m.
