Red Dead Redemption 2’s Mexico Map Will Soon Be Ours To Explore

Being able to explore Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 has always seemed like a bit of a white whale situation. Despite fans finding ways to glitch into the country over the years, the landscape is mostly empty. Now, thanks to a group of dedicated fans, a Mexico map will be fully explorable in RDR2 via a massive upcoming mod.

As posted by user zoyser on the RDR2 Reddit page, there’s an upcoming mod, called Nuevo Paraíso, that will unlock Mexico on the map. The description reads, “Nuevo Paraíso – The Forgotten Frontier, a large-scale mod for Red Dead 2 that rebuilds the Mexico region from RDR1 with new missions, settlements and full world integration.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans Are Working On A Mexico Expansion

The team of fans working on “Nuevo Paraíso – The Forgotten Frontier,” has stated the game is set in 1907 and will include rebuilt versions of towns like Chuparosa. “Unique vegetation and NPC behaviors,” side missions, and other locales are also promised. The new mod will also have “content comparable to a DLC.”

The placement of its timeline will go right along with when RDR2 takes place, and it seems like the expansion will aim to maintain continuity with the base game. Overall, it sounds like a really promising mod for one of Rockstar’s most popular games.

Right now, the mod is still in development and no release date for when it’ll arrive on Nexus Mods was given. Currently, it’s only planned for PC. The full trailer can be viewed above.

Mexico Mod Isn’t The First Of Its Kind

In the time since RDR2 released, fans have figured out how to glitch into Mexico and have released mods letting you get into parts of the country. Since it’s been 7 years, it’s highly unlikely Rockstar will ever release an official Mexico DLC, so these fan-made mods are the next best thing.

Although it’s not the first time a Mexico mod has appeared, it does seem to be arguably the most expansive one. By using RDR1‘s Mexico map, it should have plenty of settlements and side missions, as well as NPCs and unique fauna and flora. There’s a lot to be excited about here, so hopefully, the Nuevo Paraíso expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2 will come out sooner rather than later.
