Wizard Jeremy Corbyn is upstaged by Ian McKellen as Toto in this witty panto

To avoid the “wrong” path and the “right” path and find somewhere in between. “Sounds like your usual centrist bull—-,” replies Dor in an aside, although, since Corbyn is looking unlikely to find a workable home on either the left or the right any time soon, centrist bull—- is probably his only option left.
That’s about it from Jezza – as he says, he has a party to launch, and on the current evidence it needs all the work it can get. But he’s upstaged about 15 minutes later by Ian McKellen, also on video, in a quite wonderfully batty turn as Toto the dog.
Sporting a pair of furry ears, McKellen scratches, pants, throws a bit of shade at James Corden and gives a shout out to his dog superband (co-starring Snoop Dogg, naturally). It’s a deliciously barking off-piste moment in a show that otherwise keeps itself impressively disciplined.
