Marseille predicted XI v Newcastle: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt O’Riley to start, Angel Gomes to be benched

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt O’Riley are set to start for Olympique de Marseille against Newcastle United in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter at the Vélodrome.

Roberto De Zerbi is set to start with three midfielders against the Premier League side. Hojbjerg returns after being rested during Friday’s 5-1 win over OGC Nice. He may be joined by O’Riley, who began that game on the bench, whilst Geoffrey Kondogbia is expected to retain his place following a strong showing.

It means that there could be no space in Marseille’s starting XI for Angel Gomes or Arthur Vermeeren. OM are without Nayef Aguerd, who is managing a pubalgia issue, Facundo Medina, who won’t play again in 2025, Michael Murillo, Hamed Junior Traoré, and Amine Gouiri.
