It’s always great to see Welsh celebrities return and rave over what their home country has to offer. Nine Perfect Strangers and The Pembrokeshire Murders star Luke Evans is one of those who takes immense pride in being from Wales and always manages to show it off when he’s here.

Currently, Luke is back to film ITV’s The Party, alongside fellow Welsh star Tom Cullen – of The Gold and Downton Abbey – and has been taking advantage of being based in the Welsh capital, with his cute dog, Lala in tow.

They’ve enjoyed classic Welsh days out at Barry Island, where Luke and a friend enjoyed some fish and chips and the pooch Lala enjoyed the beach at Whitmore Bay – Luke was spotted in front of the unmistakeable colourful beach huts. The trips have been shared to Luke’s Instagram where fans saw him take a drive up the heads of the valleys, showing off unmistakeable views across the region.

Luke was brought up in Aberbargoed in the Rhymney Valley so it could be the common near where he grew up, either way, the top of that, or any other valley is worth an explore due to it rugged beauty and endless skies (when it’s not raining!). Luke, who rose to international stardom thanks to The Hobbit trilogy and his role as Gaston in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast, described his home country as “majestic”. We’d have to agree strongly, there.

Watching the Welsh Autumn International against the All Blacks and dining out at Cardiff’s The Ivy were also on the cards and he and his co-stars of The Party celebrated an early Christmas dinner.

Luke’s co-star, Sinead Matthews shared a black and white image of the table, which included acting legend Lindsay Duncan of Mansfield Park, Poirot and A Year In Provence fame. Sinead gave a shout out to The Ivy staff saying they were: “impeccable” and also to Cardiff independent boutique, Kiti Cymru.

Luke’s new project The Party is based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Day and will star the Welsh star as Martin Gilmour, a journalist shaped by his lifelong friendship with the wealthy and charismatic politician Ben Fitzmaurice, played by fellow Welsh star from Aberystwyth and Cardiff, Tom Cullen (The Gold, Trespasses, House of the Dragon).
