Damage to power line causes nearly 20,000 to lose power in Utah County

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (KUTV) — Nearly 20,000 customers lost power in Utah County after reports of a damaged line in the area.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, the outage largely affects the Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain area. However, the outage has also spread into Lehi, American Fork and Lindon.
It is unclear exactly where the power line was located or what led to the damage that caused the widespread outage.
The outage was first reported just before 7:15 a.m. and Rocky Mountain Power estimates full power to be restored before 10:30 a.m. the same day. That estimate could change depending on the extent of the damage and repair time.
The Utah Department of Transportation cautioned drivers hitting the roads for the morning commute or as part of Thanksgiving travel that the power outage caused problems with traffic signals through out Utah County.
The Saratoga Springs Police Department posted to social media reminding drivers to treat all intersections as four-way stops, slow down, plan ahead and be courteous to fellow drivers.
Drivers were told to expect delays in northern Utah County and build in extra time into the commute, if possible.
