Liverpool v PSV: Perisic penalty gives visitors advantage before Szoboszlai levels

Liverpool suffered an early set-back in their Champions League clash with PSV at Anfield but hit back to draw level before the break.
Reds boss Arne Slot was hoping for a positive response after a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.
However, the pressure on the Liverpool manager showed little sign of easing when Ivan Perisic dispatched a sixth-minute penalty to give the visitors the early advantage after Virgil van Dijk had handled in the box.
Liverpool hit back 10 minutes later when Dominik Szoboszlai rifled home from 12 yards out after PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovar had parried Cody Gakpo’s effort.
The Dutch club then had a goal disallowed for offside before Van Dijk went close to atoning for his earlier error when his looping header hit the crossbar.
Despite their tough start domestically, the hosts have fared much better on the continent this term, winning three of their opening four matches in Europe’s elite club competition.
PSV, meanwhile, have won just once in Europe this season.
