AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz spoke to USA TODAY to give travelers tips heading into what could be the busiest Thanksgiving travel weekend ever.

Thanksgiving is almost here, which means millions of people are preparing to travel to meet up with family or friends for the holiday.

If you need to mail a package or pick up some prescription medication this week, it might be a good idea to plan ahead, as some pharmacies will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27. Some grocery store, retail store and restaurant chains will also be open, albeit mostly under adjusted hours.

Banks, post offices, and the stock market will also be closed on the holiday.

Here’s what you need to know about major pharmacy chains, like CVS and Walgreens, and whether or not they’ll be open on Thanksgiving this year.

Is CVS open on Thanksgiving?

CVS pharmacies will be open on Thanksgiving, although some locations may have reduced hours, a company spokesperson told USA TODAY. The company encourages customers to call their local store before visiting or checking hours on CVS.com.

Is Walgreens open on Thanksgiving?

Most Walgreens locations will be closed on Thanksgiving, according to the company’s website. 24-hour locations and pharmacies will remain open; however, non-24-hour locations will be closed.

Customers are encouraged to call their nearest Walgreens location or use the store locator function on the company’s website to check for specific hours.

Are pharmacies in grocery stores open on Thanksgiving?

Pharmacies inside Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Food Lion, and Target, among other grocery chains, will all be closed, the companies confirmed to USA TODAY. Customers are encouraged to check their local stores’ pharmacy hours.
