I’m A Celebrity star Shona McGarty’s family have broken their silence on romance rumours linking her with Manchester rapper Aitch, who they called a ‘nice guy’.
The former EastEnders star is one of 12 famous faces taking part on the annual Ant and Dec series. Shona’s trip to the jungle arrives one year after she departed her BBC soap role of Whitney Dean.
Prior to jetting off to Australia, Shona began focusing on her music career. Releasing her debut single Unapologetically Me just weeks before the ITV reality series got underway last week.
So far, viewers have seen Shona opening up about her anxiety, as well as her and former Lioness Alex Scott being the only two celebrities not to receive badges during the Bush Explorers segment, which introduced Vogue Williams and Tom Read Wilson as late arrivals.
While many people believed that Shona would strike up a friendship with Martin Kemp, who also worked on EastEnders, the 34-year-old has been closest to New Morton native Aitch.
Aitch was previously seen confessing his feelings about Shona to Angry Ginge, who he’s a friend with away from the programme, at the end of last week, admitting: “I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me.”
Now, Shona’s sister Camila delivered her verdict on the rapper as she landed at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday (November 25).

Giving Aitch her seal of approval, she said: “He is a nice guy…I would definitely have him around for Christmas.”
Following Aitch’s comments about Shona, Ant and Dec revealed that they’re desperate for a jungle romance this year on the show, which famously introduced Peter Andre to Katie Price.
Dec said: “This came completely out of the blue this morning.” Ant added: “It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper romance on this show. We’d love to see it….we would celebrate it.”
However, Camilla has admitted that she needed to see more evidence that romance is actually blossoming between her sister and one of the UK’s fastest rising superstars.
She noted: “I don’t know if I see it romantically…it might just be a brother and sister relationship, but I don’t know… I don’t think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it.”
Prior to entering the jungle, Shona broke up with her musician fiancé, David Bracken, earlier this year. Insiders say the split is amicable, and he recently wished her all the best for the jungle on social media. Aitch is also single after splitting with Lois Cottam before I’m A Celebrity got underway.
Before going into the jungle, Shona said: “My mental health, my anxiety and my depression has been pretty bad over the last at least four or five years, and that has stopped me from doing a lot of things I have always wanted to do.”
Expressing how proud she is of Shona for bravely discussing her anxiety battle, Camilla added: “It’s been strange watching her, including some parts where she has been a bit upset and not being able to be there for her. But she is doing absolutely fine.”
Shona has also wowed the camp with a rendition of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, which left Camilla delighted as he world got to see how much of a good singer she is.
“She is always singing…kitchen karaoke sessions until 3am. We are a very sing song family,” she noted.
