Britain is bracing for icy conditions next week with snow forecast for the South West and temperatures tumbling to -2C.
Latest weather maps from WXCHARTS, using MetDesk data, suggest the brutal conditions are expected from December 6.
Snow is forecast to blanket Devon, Warwickshire, Norfolk, Lancashire, the Scottish Highlands, and North Wales at 6pm next Sunday, December 7.
Temperatures are also due to nosedive next Sunday, with Scotland bearing the brunt of the cold snap.
Parts of the Highlands and Scottish Borders could see the mercury drop to -2C – considerably chillier than December’s usual average of 6C, reports Devon Live.
England is expected to face slightly less harsh conditions, with most areas seeing temperatures hover between 3C and 4C.
However, northern regions, especially Cumbria, might hit -1C.

Meanwhile, the Met Office forecast for December 2 to 11 warns: “Changeable and often unsettled conditions are expected across the UK during this period”, reports the Express.
“Low pressure systems will tend to dominate meaning showers or longer spells of rain for much of the UK, though some brief drier, more settled interludes are also possible.
“The wettest weather is perhaps more likely in parts of the west, but heavy rain is possible almost anywhere at times through this period.
“The greatest chance of snow will probably be over northern high ground.
“Given the dominance of low pressure, strong winds are also likely at times.
“Overall, temperatures are predicted to be close to average, though colder conditions may occasionally encroach into northern areas.
“Some frost is to be expected where drier, clearer conditions develop overnight.”
