Light up the holiday season with Christmas in the Park

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – As Thanksgiving and Christmas get closer, the city of College Station is getting in the holiday spirit with the annual Christmas in the Park.
With over a million lights on display, Stephen C. Beachy Central Park will be lit up nightly from Nov. 27 through Jan. 1.
Jeep Wentsch with the city of College Station Parks and Recreation Department said families are encouraged to come out and enjoy the light displays between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
In addition to the light displays, the Christmas in the Park event will take place on Dec. 6, starting with the Jingle Bell Fun Run.
The run begins at 3:30 p.m. and will follow the same route as the Christmas parade being held afterward.
Following the parade, Wentsch said the Christmas in the Park event really kicks off. There will be everything from hayrides to hot chocolate and cookies and even photo opportunities.
“It’s a free event, so we encourage everyone in the community to come out and have some fun and spread some Christmas cheer with us,” Wentsch said.
For anyone who has a letter for Santa, a station will be available to drop those off so they can make their way to the North Pole. Wentsch said the city encourages everyone to drop those letters off before Christmas Eve so there’s enough time to mail them off to Santa.
Admission to see the lights is free, and there is parking available inside.
